Breaking Ties - Part I

GAME: TERA
CHARACTER: ARAWN

Arawn poked and prodded at the small roaring fire as his mind traveled far from his campsite in Celestial Hills. It had been a year since it happened, a year since he just started walking with no destination. As the flames flickered and danced he couldn't help but become mesmerized by their movements. Memories from his past moved with the flames, closing his eyes as he recalled the events that transpired to leave him in this current state.

It was a day like any other day in Cutthroat Harbor, the unique aroma of salt water, dead fish and alcohol filled the little tavern that Arawn had called their headquarters. The building was two stories and a lot of character, or that's what he told his twin brother at least. The first floor being a somewhat successful bar and the upper was an inn that Arawn bought out as quarters for those that rode under his own flag. Onyx Rose Trading Company, to most it was just a small time operation that dealt with finding rare and expensive artifacts at a price. But for those that walked the path that at times traveled outside the law the Onyx Rose was much more then what it appeared to be.

Arawn awoke, as usual to the smell of his breakfast being brought in to him. Moving in and out of the arms and legs of the woman to the left and right of him as he sat at the edge of his bed to inhale the contents of the plate. Being a rather warm morning he opted to pull on a plain pair of brown leather pants, making his way through the far door of his quarters to his office to go over the day's agenda.

Sitting back in his chair while flicking through the various papers that were thrown on his desk over the course of the night and early morning. Various job requests and new contracts for members, nothing overly important. Behind the scenes Onyx Rose dealt with mercenary contracts, assassinations, black market acquisitions and just about anything that paid well. He dreaded paperwork but part of the fun was matching the correct person to the job. He recently hired a Priestess who refused to take payment for her good deeds. He pitched her the idea that he would find many more people who needed her services and she could go help them. Little did she know that there was another Onyx Rose agent following her from town to town collecting coin after she left.

With a few flicks of his wrist he signed a handful of job requests and new contracts. Making sure to put them in the safe with his secondary set of ledgers. When The Federation came knocking for taxes he gave them ledgers for everything that was done in a legal fashion, however he managed a true set so he could make sure he came out profitable on every acquisition. Only a very select few even knew the existence of these and he aimed to keep it this way.
