GAME: WORLD OF WARCRAFT
CHARACTER: KALEYEN, KAIDEN
"Damn it! You have to send a search party out for them!" a clenched
fist came down hard on the desk to illustrate his frustration and
anger. Granted, the unit that failed to return was that of his two best
friends, but it was also the third one this month under the command of
Thantos Skyfire that had gone missing, missing except for Thantos
himself.
The man behind the desk stood up, his height and massive frame hidden behind the large wooden desk.
"Do you forget your place, Initiate Silverstrike? Or are you just that daft to have such outbursts to your commanding officer?"
Kaiden
straightened up in his boots. It wasn't like him to speak this way to
his superior officers; however, after hearing that no search party was
going to be sent for the missing unit, his emotions got the best of him.
"No Si..." He was swiftly cut off by the man before him.
"Your
rank does not require your knowing of what actions will be taken. You
are dismissed Initiate." Emphasis was put on 'Initiate' as he sat back
down and his eyes focused on the paperwork in front of him.
Lowering
his head, Kaiden turned to leave the office, his friends were lost,
more then likely dead but the unknowing was eating away at his insides.
Turning on his heels, he held his head up and stared down at his
superior.
"Sir, allow me to go search alone then."
Without
even looking up from the paper in front of him, his hand signing away
at some report, his steady voice replied as he turned the page "No.
Dismissed."
Taking his leave from the office, Kaiden walked back
to his bunk. Being just an underling, he didn't get to have his own
quarters and shared a room with three others of his rank. Digging under
his mattress for his whittling knife and his current lure project, he
set to work. Carving out his latest and greatest lure always helped him
clear his mind and think. Two paths stuck out in his mind, dishonor
his family and leave his training as a Blood Knight or abandon his life
long friends to an unknown fate. Neither option appealed to him, but he
often heard of father speaking of the hard choices a man sometimes has
to make.
Two hours later he had three letters written, his pack
made up, and his bunk made with his armor and tabard laid neatly on top.
One letter being his resignation to the Blood Knights, the second to
his father and mother, and the third to his younger sister. Picking up
his pack and going through the gold he had left in his pouch, he figured
he had enough to buy a shield and weapon in town, some provisions and
information regarding where Kaleyen's and Finis' unit was patrolling.
Taking one last look around, he closed the door and took his first step
on this unknown path.
