Broken - Part IV

GAME: WORLD OF WARCRAFT
CHARACTER: KALEYEN

His world was black, Kaleyen walked around endlessly lost in the darkness as he encountered visions of his life. From his father teaching him how to properly hold a bow, his mother showing him the essentials of tracking and even when receiving a kiss on the cheek from his childhood crush, it all came to him in waves. Each one leaving a feeling of lost longing on a life he no longer had, a life that was stolen from him. He knew his end was near, often hearing tales that ones life flashing before your eyes before passing over, yes he would soon be no longer of this world.

Muffled screams and sobbing stirred him awake, Kaleyen slowly opened one eye rubbing away the crusted on dirt and blood before opening the other. Taking in his surroundings he found himself in a cage with several other people, he didn't recognize a single face but that partly could be due to the fact that his vision was still blurry. Looking out beyond his own enclosure he noticed that there were many cages in rows identical to the one he occupied, each having several people packed within. Each occupant was dressed in the same attire, the men in nothing but tattered linen pants that most looked like shorts, the women had the same lower garments while only some had tops to cover their chests and the children that were present seemed to be wearing whatever remains could be patched together. Everyone had the same cuffs around their wrists and ankles which connected together with a few links of chain and then a longer chain that ran vertical with their body that connected the links of their wrists and ankles together. Escape in these would not be possible as they prevented the wearer from running or walking fast.

Reaching up Kaleyen pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger as his mind went through what possibilities of escape he would have. Not sure how he didn't notice it right away, the stench of blood, human feces and decaying bodies hit his senses all at once. Without warning his body lurched forward as his mouth opened in a dry heave before the contents of his stomach were spewed out over his feet and legs. Kaleyen took his head between his hands to try to make the ground from spinning, planting one foot on the ground as he attempted to stand up his body screamed it's rejection. Falling back to his knees as he wrapped his arms around his torso to bare the sharp shooting pain that moved throughout his entire body. Closing his eyes as the darkness reclaimed him, in his mind he once again saw the vision of his youth, it was the only light in his world.
